08.00-16.30 Monday to Thursday (30mns lunch break)
08.00-13.00 Friday (no lunch break)
Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £100M and over 700 staff.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster, where we have a vacancy for a Quality Management System Engineer.
Working in close cooperation with the Roxel Fr BMS Manager, this role has responsibility for developing and maintaining an effective and efficient Quality Management System (QMS) which satisfies the requirements of EN9100, all customer-specific requirements and any other standards which will benefit the business.
The role will require involvement with key process owners across the business to ensure their processes are documented, maintained and adhered to.
The QMS Engineer role is required to enable Roxel to gain a competitive edge in the marketplace by developing and maintaining a robust QMS and associated processes which enable operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Implement an optimized business management system (QMS) that everyone understands and embraces:
- Define and oversee improvement of the quality management system
- Ensure that it complies with the applicable standards
- Monitor its application and ensure that appropriate improvement actions are implemented
Recommend, implement and improve methodological tools tailored to the needs of the operational sectors:
- Promote the Roxel tools (8D, FMEA, Lean, 6S, Roxgates, etc.)
- Deploy the QMS across the company and monitor its application:
- Coordinate and conduct the company’s audit policy through an appropriate program of audits
- Responsible for coordinating and facilitating all external accreditation audits to maintain EN9100 certification
- Ensure that improvement processes and actions are effective
- Ensure that the necessary quality-related authorizations/accreditations are in place and properly managed
- Define and coordinate associated communications actions
Continuously adapt and improve the QMS:
- Support management reviews and process performance reviews, and monitor the progress of improvement actions
- Analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of the company QMS (or processes) and propose improvements, based on KPIs
- Further develop the QMS in accordance with action plans defined, keeping it as simple as possible
Identify and implement best practices regarding methods and associated tools (risk analysis, performance improvement, decision support, cause analysis, problem solving, etc.) and ensure that they are duly adopted by the operational sectors concerned:
- Identify and propose appropriate methods
- Distribute methods and tools (especially those in the Roxel toolbox) and assist the operational sectors with their implementation
- Design and coordinate training programs
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- EN/AS9100 Lead Auditor
- Desirable Qualifications
- HNC/HND/Degree-level, or equivalent, in an Engineering discipline
Experience:
- Essential Experience
- 5+ years experience of implementing and improving AS/EN9100 quality systems in an aerospace or defence environment
- Dealing with regulatory bodies (i.e. Bureau Veritas etc)
- Internal and external auditing
Desirable Experience
- Experience and knowledge of working with DEFSTANS
Person Specification
- Must have strong communication skills and to be able to communicate at all levels.
- Proven capability to lead dynamic, multi-functional teams up to middle-management across a complex manufacturing environment.
- Ability to manager senior stakeholders and customers to gain buy-in to change and improvement activities.
- Ideally candidates will come from an Engineering/Manufacturing background
- Must be innovative and highly motivated and ready to drive change throughout the organisation
- Working knowledge of Kaizen, and Lean activities
- Computer literate with sound knowledge of MS Office Word / Excel / PowerPoint etc
