The Role of a MP&L Apprentice

The MP&L Planner will be responsible for coordinating the materials and production needs necessary for timely product assembly and delivery. This position encompasses three key areas:

  1. The Materials Planner is tasked with planning, coordinating, and expediting the parts and materials sourced from external suppliers to support production schedules.
  2. The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules and requirements, as well as managing all related work order documentation.
  3. The Logistics Coordinator oversees all inventory movements, both physical and digital, and is involved in workload planning, stock counts, kitting, and more.

 

Training: The selected candidate will be enrolled in a Level 3 Business Administration program while receiving on-the-job training with the team. They will participate in a structured rotation through all departments, benefiting from expert mentorship from team members. Additionally, the successful applicant will join a strong apprenticeship network, fostering mutual learning and support among peers.

 

 Responsibilities you will learn to undertake:

  1. Ensure parts and materials are available to support production plans in all areas of manufacturing and create and maintain supplier schedules and expedite parts and materials.
  2. Create production schedules and prioritise Works orders for production optimization. Release and maintain Works orders and prepare any other documents required for production.
  3. Complete status reports for production progress, work in process and inventory.
  4. Ensure all logistics paperwork raised, bookings of stock movements in and out of the company and stores are completed accurately and timely.
  5. Plan, review & maintain stock levels through planning of perpetual stock counts.
  6. Interact with the relevant manufacturing manager on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or additional information such as staff availability (Sickness, leave, etc).
  7. Maintain all planning parameters in the MRP systems to ensure parts and materials are scheduled to include time necessary for internal testing and quality assurance etc.
  8. Ensure inventory is appropriately identified, labelled and placed into stock in accordance with standard operating processes.
  9. Provide accurate and timely management reporting of KPIs.
  10. Continually seek improvements relative to inventory and supply, and make recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve methods.
  11. Ensure Health and Safety standards for all incoming materials are fully communicated and understood.
  12. Additional responsibilities and projects as required by the business.

Other information to consider:

  • Aged 18+ due to site requirements
  • To have consistently lived in the UK for at least 5 years
  • Ability to pass a Security Clearance
