Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £100M and nearly 700 staff. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster where we have a permanent vacancy for a Logistics Process Operative.
The role of Logistics Operative is focused around working with both inert and energetic material stores on a day to day basis. Control of goods received and management of all outbound materials according to daily, weekly and or monthly schedules is essential. Working closely with the MRP team, Cell Management, and other functional department leads to ensure all goods and materials are delivered to the right place at the right time.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a consistent approach and time management skills. Key to this role is accepting and rejecting deliveries throughout site and you will need be able to work to a high level of accuracy, with attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Main Responsibilities
• Working closely with logistics and warehousing in co-ordinating the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials across site.
• Ensure site inventory levels are suitably maintained.
• Effectively communicate with all departments to keep them fully informed of the movement of goods and materials across site.
• Monitoring all kitting documents and ensure compliance to the operational plan.
• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, by hand or with a forklift truck.
• Checking for damaged or missing items, to then sort stock for storage in the warehouse.
• Taking goods to the appropriate storage space.
• Keeping a careful record of stock on the warehouse management system, so that it can be located quickly.
• Operating a forklift truck to move and rearrange stock and ensure that products are stored safely (especially chemicals and energetic material) and labelled correctly.
• Kitting orders from the storage space and bringing them to the kitting bay for transportation as required.
• Ensure orders are packaged and labelled correctly to prevent returned orders or damaged goods.
• Organising transfers and loading goods on to delivery vehicles.
• Ensuring Health and Safety standards are upheld and communicated throughout the site.
• Additional responsibilities and projects as requested by the business.
• Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are accurately adhered to ensuring data accuracy at all times.
• Any other reasonable requests.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential Qualifications
– 5 GCSE’s at level 4 or above (must include Maths & English).
Desirable Qualifications
– Safety awareness
– Forklift truck Licence
– DGSA Qualification or a willingness to work towards
Essential Previous Proven Experience
– Can demonstrate experience of working within a manufacturing / warehouse environment
– Strong IT competencies with experience of working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word and Outlook) and MRP/ MES Systems.
– Knowledge and experience with TROPOS or other ERP systems.
Desirable Experience
– Experience of working within a Lean Culture e.g. Kaizen, Kanban, 7 waste principles, SQCDPI techniques.
– Working knowledge of quality requirements of both processes & product manufacturing.
