My job

In my role at Roxel I am responsible for the development and qualification activities for rocket motors as well as being the technical liaison for the project, both within the business and with the customers. I work with the various teams within the business to design and demonstrate a new rocket motor which is robust and capable of meeting the customer’s performance requirements.

My background

I completed my Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering before joining Roxel from university. While working at Roxel I have built upon my knowledge from university and learned new skills along the way which have enabled me to attain Chartered status with the Royal Aeronautical Society.

My motivations

Working on development projects requires a combination of office and shop-floor time to prepare assets for testing and to understand any manufacturing difficulties. This combination disciplines and the technical challenge of finding that extra bit of performance for the customer is why I enjoy this role and is what can make it particularly rewarding.

“How innovative is Roxel as a company?”

Answer by Dan to Connor :

Hi, Roxel are always looking for new ways to innovate either within the products or within the manufacturing processes. Our most recent example is the drive to make use of the on-site 3D printer for jigs to use as process aids or using external printing capabilities for quick turnaround of motor parts during development. We have an annual review of internally funded research topics to ensure that our products and processes remain at the forefront of sector capability, and are heavily involved in external research programmes such as WSRF and ITP which aim to progress knowledge and capability within the defence sector as a whole.
